Process of Clean Energy Investments
1a. Contact Us
It's crucial to make sure you have a solid understanding what of sustainable finance, divestment, and reinvestment can look like before you push for change at your school.
Our hsCleanInvest team would love to hop on a Zoom call with you (and your team, if you have one) to help you get started, so so please fill out this form here and/or email us. After this initial meeting, we will set up a group chat for easy communication and support for your team through the process.
2. Build a team
Changing investment strategies isn’t a one-student job, and will likely take time, so find people at school - whether that's within your environmental/investing club or elsewhere - who are excited about clean energy investment and are willing to work with you throughout the process.
Reach out to those who invest your school's endowment and find out how it is managed (we have a template for you). School administrators, teachers, and/or parents might be able to point you in the right direction.
3. Take the Next Steps
We will continue conversing with you to help you at every step. This process is different for every school, but here are a few techniques in our toolbox:
Gather support/consensus from the student body, faculty, and administration on your school on whether they would support sustainable investing practices.
Collaborate with your school's endowment board to figure out what divestment & reinvestment can look like at your school.
And just a reminder, this process is usually slow and may result in you sending many emails and being pushy, but that’s in the nature of change-making.
